Before Sedation
Preparing for your anesthesia is crucial to ensuring a smooth and safe surgical experience. Please carefully follow the guidelines below to help us provide you with the best possible care. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact our office.
- Fasting Requirements: Do not consume any food or drink, including water, for twelve (12) hours before your sedation appointment. This is crucial to ensure a safe anesthesia experience.
- Transportation and Supervision: A responsible adult (18 years or older) must accompany you to our office, stay during the procedure, and drive you home afterward. Your safety is our top priority.
- Post-Anesthesia Caution: Avoid driving or operating any machinery for at least 24 hours following your anesthesia experience to ensure a safe recovery.
- Appropriate Clothing: Wear loose-fitting clothes with short sleeves to ensure comfort and accessibility during the procedure.
- Personal Items: All contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed before surgery to maintain safety and comfort.
- Cosmetics and Grooming: Please refrain from wearing lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the surgery day. You may be asked to remove nail polish if present.
- Health Conditions: Notify our office if you experience any illness, such as a cold, sore throat, or stomach and bowel upset, before your appointment.
- Medication Instructions: If you’re taking routine oral medications, consult with Dr. Schellati for specific instructions prior to your surgical date.
