Oral Surgeon Nicholas Schellati, DDS, MD

Dr. Schellati is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

He completed extensive training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. This includes dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants and bone grafting, oral pathology and facial reconstructive surgery, corrective jaw surgery and facial cosmetic surgery.

He started his career receiving his Bachelor of Biological Sciences (BS) degree from Fordham University in New York City.

He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) with honors from the University of Buffalo. After dental school, he trained at a fully accredited 6 year dual degreed oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Buffalo. Dr Schellati is a physician, receiving his medical degree (MD) from this same institution. He has completed an internship in general surgery, where he treated patients with full scope general surgical needs, including acute trauma patients at a level one trauma facility.

Dr. Schellati is extensively trained in anesthesia techniques and certified by the state of NY to provide anesthesia and intravenous sedation to his patient population while performing oral and maxillofacial procedures.

He holds a faculty appointment at the University of Rochester and is involved in oral and maxillofacial surgery resident training. He also currently holds staff privileges at Strong Memorial Hospital and Rochester General Hospital.

Dr. Schellati currently resides in Fairport with his wife, JoAnn, and daughters, Alexa, Ella, and Addison.


Dr. Heather Chance is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Chance was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She studied at McGill University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and then continued on to attend the McGill University School of Dentistry. She then moved to Western New York to complete residency training in the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital. She has been extensively trained in dentoalveolar surgery (simple and surgical extractions, preprosthestic surgery, etc.), dental implants and bone grafting, orthognathic/jaw repositioning surgery, full facial trauma, benign pathology and reconstruction, and minor facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Chance has also trained in anesthesia and is certified by New York State to provide office based anesthesia and intravenous sedation.

Dr. Chance is an avid swimmer and competed from childhood until the end of her Bachelor’s degree, nationally and internationally. She has competed all over the world but now is happy to swim just for fun. She also enjoys cooking, running, and spending time with her husband, Matt, and daughter, Becca.
